The Indian Peoples Council notes the election of Zohran Kwame Mamdani as Mayor of New York. As a Marxist-Leninist organisation, we find it necessary to provide ideological clarity amidst the celebratory noise from liberals and the reactionary fear-mongering from the right. We must draw a definitive line between bourgeois electoralism and the revolutionary science of socialism.
Issue
The word socialist and its interpretations. Vocal reaction form far right and its interpretation as validity of socialist credentials. Association of broad colloquial term socialism with Scientific Socialism alternatively Marxian socialism with non marxian forms of Socialism. There is public discourse about that association and there are misconceptions some deliberate and others coincidental, which may cause unwarranted appropriations of victories and defeats of the person in question and their ideology with Marxism-Leninism.
Clarifications
On Socialism and Democratic Socialists: Democratic-Socialism is a reformist ideology that seeks to manage the crises of capitalism, democratic socialism not even in most over zlealous extreme version seek to overthrow capitalism. The word Socialism in Democtatic-Socialism was a product of its time, a contemporary nascent utopian ideology during the life of Karl Marx, predating Das Kapital by a decade or two. It operates entirely within the confines of the bourgeois apparatus. Its goal is to humanise capitalism with social welfare, not to establish the revolutionary Dictatorship of the Proletariat. This is to say, while it shares name with Socialism as in preceding stage before communism. It has nothing to do with Historical-Dialectical Materialism, and working class. It is very much an ideology for the agency of the bourgeoisie.
Communism and Communists: For our context in this article. It will be sufficient to say the Scientific Socialism, Communism and Communists fundamentally reject idea of a negotiated settlement with the bourgeoisie. Its a zero sum game, in fact one might even dare day entire Das kapital volume one is dedicated to proving that very same thing!
Reactions from other parties, candidates, political commentators and movements: The reaction, observed from opponents is not a proof of revolutionary socialist zeal of the victor. Its a petty response arising from the competition between two commission agents of the bourgeois. That is refering to genuine animosity if there ever was any. Rest is all theatre.
Indian Peoples Council claims no fraternal connection to this person or their ideology or by the way of supposed and superficial Indian connection. Furthermore Indian Peoples Council further clarifies that this person and their ideology has nothing to with Karl Marx, Fredreich Engles and other critical persons to communism or ideas critical to Marxism-Leninism. It has nothing to do with specific socialism that communists are referring to i.e. Scientific Socialism. Finally, to be blunt it has nothing to with Communism.
We do not claim any moral or otherwise victory in this persons victory and we are presently and we will in future fervently decline any share in losses, mistakes and political missteps of this specific person and other persons sharing such ideology. We reject that this person or this ideology’s failure is failure of scientific socialism or communism. Communists refuse to share in inevitable implosion of this rapprochement and appeasement of capital and eventual paving way for naked fascistic practices that are bound to come.
We thoroughly exhort all communists and communist parties, especially on Indian side to go back to basics. Read trifecta of Communist manifesto, Value Price and Profit and Wage Labour and Capital by Karl Marx.
To Indian Media, Indian Peoples Council is impressed by their promptness and sensitivity to political changes in the global neighbourhood of New York, a place mere 12,000 Km away from India. We will be impatiently holding our breath, here at IPC, for the Indian media to develop same consideration for distant shores of Dominion of Republic of India; of which we are certain that Indian media is on the cusp of possessing such enlightenement any second now, we have no doubts about that.
